Hello! You have found the Southern Colorado Hiking Project AKA “SoCo Hikes”. This page is dedicated to highlighting the tremendous hiking options in the Southern half of Colorado that can be frequently overlooked in favor of other parts of the state.

The aim of the project is to compile a database of the best hikes in Southern Colorado. The project is run by Bri and Matt, two teachers in El Paso County who love to get outside. We are both residents of Colorado Springs, CO. We are transplants from the Midwest who moved to Colorado in 2019. Upon our arrival we enjoyed roaming the area but felt like we quickly ran out of the obvious hikes available and had to depend solely on word of mouth to find good trails. Hiking guides in Colorado typically showcase high alpine hikes in other areas of the state at the expense of those in the Southern region. SoCo Hikes aims to fill the hiking knowledge gap in this area of the state while encouraging all users to adhere to responsible use guidelines so the natural beauty of the area can be maintained for future generations.
